Roll out of new services to benefit ex-Forces personnel
The Armed Forces Community Academy (AFCA) is an exciting initiative set up by The British Training Board that is making significant steps in its development. Created especially for those leaving the Forces - or those who have been out of the Forces for some time - the AFCA is now being rolled out across the UK to enable ex-Forces personnel to get their skills and qualifications gained in the Armed Forces recognised in civilian life. This gives those looking for work a competitive edge and provides the best start for those looking to embark on a new career outside of the Forces.
The British Training Board understands the difficulties faced by those looking to start a new life outside of the Forces. The company has helped thousands of its member successfully transition into the civilian world since its establishment and from this experience, has tailored-made the AFCA to further enhance the service it offers.
There are two elements to the AFCA, which work together to give a fully-rounded service:
·The Skills Translator
The British Training Board provides the UK’s only military skills translator. This bespoke tool lets people transfer in-house qualifications into nationally and internationally recognised accredited certificates. You simply send us your qualifications and we get to work to translate them into civilian qualifications and learning recognised by employers in civilian life. This is most often achieved without the need for additional training, which gives you more free time to search for an exciting new career.
·The Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS)
Following the skills translator process, we will help you take the next steps to finding your ideal job. You can receive assistance with improving your CV and any other extra work you may need, but it doesn’t stop there. Our GIS helps to get you in front of potential employers. We work hard to establish strong business relationships with companies all across the UK, to provide you, our members, with lots of opportunities to get an interview with a potential employer. We can’t guarantee you a job, but we can certainly guarantee that you can get your foot in the door. Not only does this give invaluable interview experience, but it helps raise your chances of finding a long-term and fulfilling new role with a company signed up to our GIS.
This is an exciting time for The British Training Board, as we enhance our offering to provide the best service to those looking for a new start in the world of work. We have increased our team with specially trained regional managers to deliver the AFCA throughout the UK, making it as easy as possible for former Forces personnel to lead their working life the way they want to.
