National Armed Forces Academy

It is a collaboration between The British Training Board, The PROUD Program, The Institute of Leadership, The University of Wales Trinity St David and Specialist Training Providers to bring you bespoke education pathways from Level 3 to Level 7.


All using your previous learning and education from your current and previous roles.


You can study at your own pace. Gaining credits from your previous military history using the "Skills Translator" and your Certificated and uncertificated learning.


You can gain Membership to the Institute of Leadership via our Specialist route.


We currently have 5 areas of learning that incorporate the most diverse range of skills and experience. 


You can choose a pathway that will suit your particular skill set and follow that pathway to a postgraduate degree in professional practice and then top up to a full Master's degree.


All of our completed pathways have an entire graduation ceremony.

  • National Armed Forces Academy

    Our Academy's offer a unique work-based provision known as the Professional Practice Framework (PPF). The Academy's can support you to gain academic credits that recognise the level of experience you have gained from your current career and beyond.


  • Our Vision

    We understand that you may feel a little nervous with academic writing skills, however, we pride ourselves on the excellent support we provide in order to alleviate any concerns. 

    We design our programmes to give you all the skills you need to study from the outset and make sure you also know how to access all the support available within the Academy such as study skills, libraries, workshops and seminars as you progress. 

    We are confident that with over 4,000 graduates from our programmes we can provide work-relevant development that meets your needs; allowing you to achieve what you want from your career and enhance your impact on your current organisation and beyond.

    At the Academy, we are passionate about providing professional development that:

    • supports people to flourish and to make a significant contribution to their organisation; 

    • develops your career aspirations;

    • recognise your past experience and learning and provides academic credentials that evidence your achievements.

    We offer modules and qualifications from level 3 to level 7. Level 3 is the start point for all our Academies.  Each phase is described by credit value which loosely identifies how much work is associated with the module. A 20 credit module equates to 200 hours of learning, but please do not worry as this includes your professional learning in the workplace! 

  • Postgraduate Offering

    At level 7 we offer the following awards:

    • Postgraduate diploma (PGDip) Professional Practice (120 credits) 

    The above qualification has also gained Institute Approved status (please ask for details).

  • General Programme Structure

    Our innovative programs are unique and allow you to design the content of your programme (with support from your own academic adviser) to suit your own needs. Below is the general structure of a Facilities Management Academy. You will notice that modules 1- 3 on the list can be your choice from a range of different modules from Security, Fitness, Logistics or Education with more coming in the very near future.

    Module 2 - Level 4 Certificate in Management of Budgets and Productivity

    Module 3 - Level 5 Diploma in International Facilities Management and Multinational Logistics Operations

    Module 4 - Level 6 Diploma In Multinational Logistic Strategic Operational Planning

    Module 5 - Recognition and Accreditation of Learning essay (RAL)

    Module 6 - Research methods

    Module 7 - Independent Study

    Completed Level 7 Diploma In Profesional Practice

    * n.b. RAL is the Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning module. Credit values claimed to depend upon breadth and depth of prior experience
