PROUD Is a full career development program. It is designed to support Service leavers, Unemployed Veterans and their families to explore a new career in the Civil Service, as well as wider employment opportunities


Now you’re a Veteran would you consider remaining in service to the United Kingdom?


Are you looking for a career that offers a wide range of fantastic opportunities to

develop new and existing skills in a dynamic environment?


If the answer is YES, have you considered becoming a Civil Servant?


This program has been designed jointly by British Training Board and Heads of Place Team. It provides an informal environment for Veterans and their families to learn together and also secure civil servant mentors from a range of departments who will guide and support you as you apply for opportunities available across the civil service. We will help you to navigate your way so that you are more confident to access and understand the recruitment process in order to apply for exciting and varied job opportunities within the Civil Service.exciting and varied job opportunities within the Civil Service.


We will support you by helping you identify your cross transferable skills and support you towards  securing a new career along with nationally recognised qualifications.


This is a 6 day exciting program of face to face and online delivery.

 

The Program has 5 phases. It's totally holistic in its approach and is specifically tailored for your needs as you move through the program.

Key Requirements 

You will start the program with accurate initial assessment. This assessment will identify, prioritize, and create an appropriate personal wellbeing assessment support plan (WASP). The assessment conducted is totally confidential. It will be conducted in a safe and secure environment.


Once the WASP is complete you will be offered a place on the program.


You will be guided through the program by your individual civil service mentor, who will support you with the program from start to finish

Phase 1

Plant The Foundations

This phase will include a Wellbeing Assessment and Support Plan (WASP) this forms the heart of the whole process. 


Some of the questions are quite probing, they ask about subjects that are very personal, like your personal/family circumstances, your future aspirations, and support or help you are currently accessing or think you might need in the future. 


This is to ensure we have a complete picture of the support you require and how best we can help and support you on your pathway.

Phase 2

Review and Support 

In Phase 2 we look at your previous military skills.



We will use the latest Recognition of Prior Learning techniques to get you the most from your previous history.


This is followed by an introduction to the Civil Service Jobs portal to see what careers are available in your area and would complement the skills you already have.


Once you have identified a career of choice, your mentor will guide you to produce a career development plan.

Phase 3

Outlook and goal setting 

Phase 3 is focused on various workshops to get you the best possible outcome when applying for Civil Service Jobs.


There are full workshops on “success profiles” and how important they are to your application.


Your transferable skills that were identified in Phase 2 will be used to help you shape your application forms and highlight your evidence for what would be required in the Civil Service Success Profiles application process . You will then have greater confidence in understanding the terminology that is used within the Civil Service 


Your Civil Service mentor will be assisting you all the way through this phase of the program.

Phase 4

Understand your worth

Phase 4 is where we really drill down into the application process.


We have experts from the Civil Service who are tutors on the program who will assist you and steer you in the right direction.


Your mentor will critique and advise on the strength of your application and give you regular feedback to assist you in the application process.


You will then be subject to mock interviews for the role you have researched and honest reliable feedback given

Phase 5

Development

We complete you education top up assessments that are required for the new role you are applying for.


More importantly with your mentor we will set up a “skills Exchange” opportunity for you explore what life is like working in the Civil Service.


This program will place you in a much stronger position for you to apply for those exciting roles in the Civil Service which really are at the heart of the communities that we serve.
