Border Force is the part of the Home Office responsible for securing the UK border by enforcing immigration and customs regulations.
Border Force Summary
Border Force is a Law Enforcement arm of the Home Office with primary responsibility for UK Border Security, including counter terrorism, immigration and customs matters.
We are responsible for handling the UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking. Border Force has six operational regions in the UK: North, Central, Heathrow, South, South East, Europe and International.
Role Title: Border Force Officer
You would be responsible for delivering a wide variety of tasks, in an airport environment which may include but are not limited to:
• Operating the UK immigration controls to establish inadmissibility into the United Kingdom and taking appropriate action in cases where further examination is required.
• Operating the non-EEA primary control point (PCP), making decisions to admit non - EEA passengers under the Immigration Act.
• Profiling people, goods and vehicles for border offences, making referrals to the secondary examination area, conducting.
• Conducting casework and dealing with associated queries.
• Detecting and assisting in the investigation of offences arising from the importation/exportation of prohibited and restricted goods.
• Gathering information and making appropriate notes for evidential purposes.
• Supporting aviation, visiting privately operated flights arrivals.
• Making arrests of persons, conducting the search of these people and their supervision.
• Ensuring arrangements are made for the issuing of appropriate documentation following a decision to detain, refuse entry or remove an individual.
• Demonstrating the professional behaviours associated with a law enforcement organisation.
• Reporting the outcome of any investigation as a witness in court when required.

Selection Process
You will be enrolled on the PROUD Program which is specifically designed to give you the best chance of achieving the standard to become a member of the Boarder Force Family.
This includes specific qualifications to give you a broader understanding of the type of job role you will be doing, and also situational scenarios based role play to put you under pressure to make decisions and also work as a team.
During the program you will be paired with a mentor who will assist you with the Success profiles and also preparation of interviews
You will be required to complete and pass specialist training including Personal Safety Training (PST) which develops skills in personal safety, arrest, control and restraint techniques. This demands physical activity and physical contact with delegates on the course. You will be required to complete a PST health declaration and, if necessary, attend a medical examination.
